Cruel witch hunts – today

For 40 years, the Swiss nun Lorena Jenal has been living and working in Papua New Guinea and fighting against witch hunts here.

The German Catholic relief organisation missio has proclaimed August 10th as International Day against Witchcraft. It is to be celebrated in memory of Christina, who was accused of witchcraft in Papua New Guinea – and managed to escape. Especially women are accused, persecuted and in many cases tortured and killed.
